Rino Falcone graduated in physics, is an expert of Artificial Intelligence and is a “director of research” of the National Research Council. He is currently Director of the Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies (ISTC) of the CNR. He previously worked in the Olivetti Voice Laboratory. He is coordinator of the T3 group: Trust Theory and Technology, at the ISTC. He has been in the ISTC-CNR Institute Committee for more than 7 years.
His main scientific skills range from the development of natural language to Planning, Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) and Agent Theory. He has been the coordinator of several national and international research projects. In particular, he was the coordinator of the European project Mind RACES: from Reactive to Anticipatory Cognitive Embodied Systems, a three-year project funded by the EU. He has published more than 180 articles for conferences and journals. He is co-author with Cristiano Castelfranchi of Wiley's book: Trust Theory, A Socio-Cognitive and Computational Model. He has held Institutional Positions including: Advisor of the Minister of University and Research (MiUR) for issues related to Italian "Scientific Research" in the period June 2006-April 2008; Member of the Selection Committee by decree of the Minister to prepare the list of candidates selected for the purposes of appointment as Presidents or members of the Board of Directors of Public Research Institutions supervised by the Ministry of MIUR in the period 2013-2015. He deals with questions related to research policies also with publications in newspapers and magazines.
