I got a PhD in Animal Behaviour at the Liverpool John
Moores University and I'm currently a post-doc at the ISTC-CNR of Rome. Since
the beginning of my career I focused my research on the study of cooperation in
group-living animals, especially in non-human primates (Japanese macaques and capuchin
monkeys). Specifically, I addressed the cognitive implications of reciprocation
and exchanges of "social services" as it is for grooming and
coalitionary behaviours.

I continued this line of research  focusing on the cognitive and social
implications of conflict management strategies, specifically on both
anticipatory and postconflict mechanisms of social regulation. During the last years,
I have broaden my reserach interest toward a more *complexity-based* approach
of animal social behaviour and I'm currently interested in new tools of
analysis, such as social simulations and social network analyses.

I have been recently involved in different research
projects, from studies investigating the intrinsic motivation that drives
exploratory behaviours and learning in capuchin monkeys to the evolutionary
roots of property and ownership.
