Short profile: 

Susanna Mayer, developmental psychologist, is a researcher at the Human Development and Society Group (HDS). She carries on research in the field of cognitive development and socialization processes in early childhood. In particular, she has studied the interactions among young children during pretend play, the exploration of the physical properties of objects, communicative development in play contexts among children and between children and adults. She has investigated the role and functions of the coordinators of early childhood education and care services in Italy. She has participated in research on the needs of immigrant families with young children.
