Domenico M. Pisanelli graduated in Electronic Engineering (Computer Science in Medicine) at the University of Rome in 1986. Since 1987 he is research scientist at CNR (senior scientist since 2001). His main research interest is in the field of medical informatics (expert systems in medicine, computerized guidelines, and ontologies in medicine). From 1990 to 2001 he held an appointment at University of L'Aquila for teaching computer science in the Engineering Faculty, from 2004 to 2006 he has taught "Biolanguages and Bioarchives" at Milan Polytechnic University. He is involved in several national and international projects on computer science in medicine and in European working groups on standardization in health care. He acts as project evaluator and reviewer in the UE e-Health sector. He recently edited the books "Ontologies in Medicine", published by IOS-Press, "New Trends in Software Methodologies, Tools and Techniques" (with Hamido Fujita) and "Telecardiologia", published by SEU.
